MEMBERS of Jodrell Side WI have finally finished a knitting project that was out of this world.

The group took up a challenge to choose a landmark and knit scarves to match its size.

Members chose Jodrell Bank’s famous telescope and then made 48 scarves - beating the target of 42 to match the 250ft dish.

The knitwear will be donated to charity but first they were taken to Jodrell Bank for a photoshoot.

Gill Monk, from the group, based near Macclesfield, Cheshire, said: “The needles were clicking all summer and true to form the members not only met the challenge but surpassed it.

“We thought that the folk at Jodrell Bank would like to hear of our efforts and they were delighted to invite us in to have a photo shoot.”
