TRIBUTES have been paid to a “legend” who was killed in a road accident in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday).


Cal Clark died after he was struck by a taxi on the A1, near Macmerry, just after midnight on Sunday. Emergency services were called out but the 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and the driver of the taxi was not injured.


Tranent AFC posted a tribute on social media and said: “We would like to pass our sincere condolences to Taylor Clark and his family of the passing of an absolute legend from Tranent that is Cal Clark.


“No words will describe how amazing this man was and will be a massive miss to everyone who knew and loved him.


“Fly high cal.”


Another comment on social media reads: “Another legend taken far too soon RIP cal.”


Police are investigating the incident and urged anyone with information to get in touch. Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our thoughts are very much with the man who died.


“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone who may have seen anything that could assist us to get in touch.


“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who has a dashcam to check their footage.”
