New bakery to 'breathe new life' into beloved Cheshire village hall
It is hoped the venture will turn around the building's fortunes having seen a drop in users in recent years
A village hall in Cheshire will become home to a new artisan bakery - breathing new life into the treasured building.
Bradwall Bakehouse will open up in Bradwall Village Hall once the refurbishment of the building in the village near Sandbach is completed towards the end of spring.
As well as creating new jobs in the area, it is hoped the venture will become a 'hive for artisan bakers looking to showcase their talent' by supplying restaurants, pubs, and shops.
Woody Barlow, director of Bradwall Bakehouse, said: “The revamped kitchen provides a perfect space to develop an artisan bakery for the baking of innovative breads for the local market.
"Having worked in hospitality for 25 years I know there is strong demand for high quality, locally sourced bread and encourage anyone with a passion for baking and bread to get in contact with the team.”
“We are looking to re-write the rules on bread making, to only use the very best of local British ingredients and create incredible breads that meet the needs of the community.
"This will be a great addition to the town and is the perfect outlet for anyone who is passionate about quality bread.”
The building on Bradwall Road was originally opened in 1972 by Lady Diana Barlow, grandmother of Mr Barlow, as a focal point for the village and to support the farming community.
The world-famous Foden's Brass Band moved into the hall temporarily in 2016 but has since faced closer due to dwindling users and volunteers, which was accelerated by the pandemic.
