East Lothian Foodbank figures: More than 8,000 meals handed out

EAST Lothian Foodbank handed out more than 8,000 meals to individuals and families across the county last month, feeding 915 people – 36 per cent of which were children.
The foodbank, on Civic Square in Tranent, also gave out 378 three-day emergency food parcels as the increase in living costs continue to threaten county families.
A spokesperson for the foodbank said: "We know that our monthly fact sheets aren't a happy read at the moment but our April figures continue to highlight the stark reality many in our community are facing...pay the rent or buy food? Put the heating on or buy food? Pay childcare or buy food?
