A JUMBLE sale has raised more than £900 for the Hollies Community Hub in Musselburgh.

Goods included hats donated by Hollies trustee James Martin, who starred in the hit TV comedy series Still Game.

Ewan Mclay, the hub’s minibus driver, also supplied marigold plants and homemade bread, which were a sell-out.

The hub had been hit with a cash crisis, sparking concern that it might have to shut its doors at the end of April.

A Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), it relies on funding from outside agencies, and applications to funders so far this year were unsuccessful.

A recent lifeline was thrown to the facility, which has provided services for elderly people for 60 years, with an injection of £32,000 from Musselburgh Common Good Fund.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up and a petition launched urging local people to get behind the campaign to save the Hollies Community Hub.

Manager Liz Shannon said: “We made over £900, which was amazing.

“The cafe sold out of everything and the staff and volunteers worked really hard to make the day a great success.”

The hub’s next fundraising event will feature singer Fiona Grant-MacDonald in St Michael’s Church Hall on Friday, June 3, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are on sale at the Hollies, priced £10.
